Wedding Vendors are Not all the Same

We try really hard to work with wedding vendors who we not only like as people, but who also produce high-quality work and top-notch service.  Once in a blue moon, we have a not so positive experience, and it reminds us to stay on the ball and to stick with those vendors we know who do their jobs well.

When planning a wedding, there are so many different types of vendors that need to be booked.  As you interview and speak with anyone, ask a lot of questions.  How do vendors respond?  Do they answer the question you asked, or do they dance around it?  How much flexibility will they give you?  Do they seem difficult to work with?  Look through their portfolio of work.  Are they showing you the same thing over and over?  Maybe their really great at going one thing, but maybe not so great at something else – the something that you’re looking for.  Ask for references!   We always, always give references to our potential clients – both past clients and vendors.  We want folks to know what we’re like to work with both as a client and from the perspective of another vendors.  Did that client have a good experience?  Was the vendor a little shady?  Also, think about how you’re treated when setting up appointments and communicating back and forth with different wedding vendors.  Are they nice?  Rude?  Responsive?  Short?  Forthcoming with information?

If, at any point, you just don’t feel comfortable or something doesn’t seem to be sitting right, walk away – even if you’ve already contracted with that vendor.  As a bride or groom, you shouldn’t feel stressed during the wedding planning process, so sometimes it’s better to walk away, even if you risk losing your deposit, than to risk something going wrong on your wedding day.  Feel free to reach out to Fresh LiME Events if you ever have any questions or are hesitant – we’d be more than happy to give you a little advice or point you in the right direction.

While this post was geared towards brides and grooms currently planning their weddings, it’s also a little reminder to all of the other wedding planners, and wedding vendors, out there that choosing the wedding vendors you work with is absolutely critical to a wedding’s success, or any other type of event.

Please, please, please do not select a vendor for your wedding based on price.  Quality is critical.
