Gabriella New York Bridal Market Recap

Filed In: Vendors

Fresh LiME Events is so excited to have Gabriella Risatti, owner of the Gabriella New York bridal salon in New York City guest blogging for us today.  With the Spring Bridal Market having closed a couple of weeks ago, Gabriella is here to let us know what trends she sees in bridal gowns.  These new collections will hit stores in the Fall!

I am so excited about the gowns shown at the most recent bridal market!  Designers were clearly feeling romantic! While fitted, stream-lined silhouettes and simpler styles have dominated the runways over the past year, this season represented a shift towards carefree and whimsical styles.  Fuller skirts, romantic lace, appliqué flowers and tulle were recurring themes on the bridal runways.  I was happy to see that the designers created A-line and even ballgown silhouettes in a slimming and flattering way.  Nobody wants to look like they belong on top of a cake on their wedding day!

I was also pleasantly surprised to see so much color on the gowns!  From accents like pretty blue belts, to statements, like large blue flowers, I loved them all.  Even if you never considered anything other than white on your wedding day, these gowns are so gorgeous, they are sure to make you think twice about color.  I particularly loved the Douglas Hannant silk organza ballgown with beautiful porcelain blue flowers in the fabric of the skirt.  The fabric is so soft and the blue detailing just adds a bit of romance!  If you want to incorporate color in a more subtle way, opt for a thin sash at the waist in a color.  It is just the perfect little detail to make your gown original!  Angelo Lambrou added greens, yellows and taupes to his gowns in a way that made them feel fresh and new, but still traditionally bridal.  I particularly loved his “Amaya” gown with soft green detailing at the waist and bodice.

I love the use of flower appliqués on wedding gowns.  They are a wonderful way to add detail to your gown in a way other than lace or beading.  Ulla-Maija had two gowns that I fell in love with because of the gorgeous floral appliqué work on the bodice.  Its feels so high fashion and romantic all at once.  These gowns also easily go from ballroom to garden!

Finally, there were a lot of short wedding dresses on the runway this season. They were flirty and fun, often times with a lot of detail like beading and lace. While not everyone wants to wear a short dress for their wedding ceremony, with the choices shown this season, you may want to consider a short dress for part of your reception.  I loved the short dresses Anne Bowen showed because they were elegant and fun all at once!
