Weddings on the beach can be absolutely amazing, but they also add another layer of complexity, particularly if you want to have a tent. Beach weddings can be a great way to use the natural beauty of the water and sand, but what happens if it rains? What if you want some shade from the beating sun? You’d have a tent, obviously. But before you have your heart set on pitching a tent on the beach for your wedding, make sure you head over to town hall to see what the restrictions are.
In Westport, Connecticut, for example, brides and grooms are not allowed to put a tent on the beach, with the exception of a 20′ x 20′ tent covering the catering, if you opt to have your cocktail hour or reception in the sand as well. So be sure to have a plan B, if a tent won’t work in your town. And ask other questions, too. Can you have amplified music? Glass bottles? In Westport, these are no-no’s, so no speakers for the ceremony on the beach, which can be noisy from the waves, and no glass bottles means your caterer will have to think of other ways to provide a bar during cocktail hour or the reception.
Just a little squeeze of LiME….
